Summer Weekends

To say I’ve been busy this summer is an understatement. 20 hours a week at my unpaid internship, along with my two other jobs of 30-35 hours a week. I’m exhausted all the time, and I’ve only been getting one day off a week (Sunday). This leaves Sunday as my only day to do fun things, which I obviously want to do because who wants to work their entire summer away?

We’ve already passed the halfway point of summer, and I’ve been able to do a lot of fun things over the weekends! I already wrote about VegFest in Kansas City, and the past couple weekends, I’ve been able to hang out with friends and family! A couple weekends ago, Shane and I went to our local drive-in and watched Toy Story 4 and Aladdin! The movies were really good, and it was so much fun to relax with Shane and enjoy each others’ company.

The next weekend, we had a pool party with friends and shot off a bunch of fireworks! We swam for hours, ate vegan hot dogs, and managed to not blow anyone’s hands off once it got dark. The whole night was a ton of fun, definitely a highlight of my summer so far.

Also, I wore a bikini for the first time and I didn’t feel *too* self conscious, which is a wonderful feeling.

The next day, I managed to get off at all three jobs so Brenna and I could spend some time together! We drove to Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to a beautiful park called the Gathering Place. It was gigantic, and we had so much fun walking around and taking pictures.

After we got back to our car, we needed to escape the heat. We drove downtown and found a cheap pay-to-park lot, then walked to the Rose Rock Microcreamery. They had vegan chocolate and vegan mint-chip ice cream, and they were delicious!

We walked around a little bit and found some beautiful murals and walls and had a few more little photoshoots before heading back to Joplin. I’m not sure what we’re looking at in these pictures, but at least we’re cute.

Back in Joplin, we went swimming and hung out with Shane until it was time for Brenna to leave. This was such a fun day, and I’m glad Brenna and I were able to spend time together!

This past weekend, Shane and I drove down to Bentonville, Arkansas to spend time with my family at Crystal Bridges!

I LOVE Crystal Bridges. There is always something new to see, but I also love that my favorite exhibits/rooms stay relatively the same. I could spend hours walking around and enjoying the art.

Shane, Brenna and I walked through the Color Field outside, which is a temporary exhibit that was very colorful (if it isn’t obvious). We went through the rest of the outside and inside exhibits with the rest of the family, and it was a ton of fun being with everyone! Afterwards we went to Mellow Mushroom in Fayettville, which has the best vegan pizza I’ve ever eaten. I will never grow tired of that place.

This summer has been a ton of fun so far, and I’m pumped for what’s coming. I’m going to Disney World in just 33 days, and right after that Shane and I will be in South Carolina to help Brenna move into college! I’m very thankful for everything I’ve been able to do already this year, and I can’t wait to see what else happens!
